The role of Frog has already been cast.
A hit on Broadway, A Year with Frog and Toad was nominated for three Tony Awards – including Best Musical. Based on Arnold Lobel’s well-loved books, and featuring a hummable score by Robert and Willie Reale, this whimsical show follows two great friends – the cheerful, popular Frog and the rather grumpy Toad – through four fun-filled seasons. Waking from hibernation in the Spring, Frog and Toad plant gardens, swim, rake leaves, go sledding and learn life lessons along the way. Part vaudeville, part make believe… all charm, A Year with Frog and Toad tells the story of a friendship that endures throughout the seasons. The jazzy, upbeat score of A Year with Frog and Toad bubbles with melody and wit, making it an inventive, exuberant and enchanting musical for the whole family.
General Audition Requirements:
Auditions will last approximately 2-2.5 hours and will consist of singing, dancing, and cold readings from the script. Bring an up-to-date calendar – you will be asked to list all possible conflicts for the entire rehearsal period. (Actors are not expected to be at all rehearsals – if we know about conflicts prior to casting, we will try to work around them where we can.)
Please bring a water bottle, wear comfortable clothes you can move in easily, and wear jazz shoes, character shoes, sneakers, or other closed-toed shoes that remain securely attached to your feet.
For the singing audition, prepare a 1 minute song in a style similar to the show. Bring a track of your music cut to the correct cue and in the correct key. Your music track should be accompaniment only (no vocals) and be downloaded to your device. At the audition, you will also be taught a small section of music from the show to sing in groups.
